del monte foods
three brands, one system
00

problem
Del Monte Foods needed a full overhaul of three brand websites: Del Monte, College Inn, and Contadina. Each brand had its own identity, audience, and content needs... but building three sites from scratch, three separate times, wasn't realistic within their budget or timeline. The challenge was designing a shared foundation flexible enough to feel distinct on every brand.
solution
I designed a modular system that powered all three sites: product catalogs, "Find a Retailer" tools, and recipe libraries, built once and styled for each brand. Each site keeps its own personality while the underlying UX stays consistent, so users (and content teams) never have to relearn anything.
The System
One foundation, built to be shared. Product catalogs, a "Find a Retailer" tool, and recipe libraries were designed as modular components: build the pattern once, then let each brand style it. That meant three full-featured sites for closer to the cost of one, and a consistent underlying UX. A shopper who learns how to browse products on Del Monte already knows how to do it on Contadina.
Three Brands, One Foundation
The system only works if the brands don't feel like triplets. Each site got its own expression through color, type, and photography: Del Monte as the flagship, College Inn with its own style, Contadina leaning into its Italian heritage.
The Recipe Libraries
For food brands, recipes are the reason people come back to the site. The libraries were built for browsing and for search: filterable, image-forward, and connected back to the products, turning "what's for dinner" into a path to the catalog.
The Outcome
Three brands launched on one design system, each with its own personality and none with its own learning curve. The modular foundation meant content teams could maintain all three sites without calling a designer or developer, and new pages could be assembled instead of designed from scratch.
